A Grand Day Out at Grandest 2016

03 May 2016

Royal Voluntary Service launched Grandfest in June 2015 to celebrate older people and the craft skills they possess and to provide an opportunity for them to pass on those skills to the younger generation.  It is a festival where older people over the age of 70, share the experience they have gained over their lifetime.

On 5th June 206, 12 Grand Makers will be hosting free masterclasses in their chosen crafts.  From basket weaving to preserve making, knitting to jewellery making, there is something for everyone.

Mich is delighted to be supporting this worthwhile initiative.  "I am looking forward to hosting my own masterclass on 5th June.  We have a duty to pass on our skills to the younger generation.  Our Grandmakers are volunteers all over the age of 70 who are experts in a traditional craft.  There is no fast track to experience and it's important we celebrate these hand crafts."

For more information and to book to attend a masterclass visit http://grandfest.royalvoluntaryservice.org  Masterclasses are free, but there is a suggested donation of £5 to take part.
