Unscripted, Unplanned and One Very Memorable Afternoon at Foodies Festival

Visitors to Foodies Festival were treated to a wonderfully spontaneous live baking session when Mich Turner MBE stepped onto the Chef's Theatre stage with just one hour's notice alongside special guest Roy Stride from Scouting for Girls.

The result was an entertaining, laughter-filled demonstration that perfectly captured the energy and unpredictability of live festival theatre.

Together, Mich and Roy created a fresh Lemon & Strawberry Roulade in front of a packed audience, layering light lemon sponge with mascarpone Chantilly cream, fresh British strawberries and edible flowers, while sharing stories, conversation and plenty of humour along the way.

With virtually no preparation time, the demonstration became a true celebration of live entertainment — unscripted, relaxed and full of audience interaction. Roy threw himself enthusiastically into the baking, while Mich guided the session with the warmth, professionalism and spontaneity that have made her one of the UK's best-known baking personalities.

The audience response was fantastic, with visitors enjoying not only the baking itself, but the chemistry, storytelling and genuine fun shared on stage.

"Sometimes the most memorable moments are the ones you never plan," said Mich afterwards. "One hour's notice, a wonderful audience, fresh strawberries and Roy Stride ready to bake. It turned into one of those joyful festival moments you simply can't script."

The live session formed part of the Theatre programme at Foodies Festival, where Mich Turner MBE hosts demonstrations, interviews guests and shares baking inspiration with audiences throughout the festival season. Foodies Festival brings together leading chefs, bakers, musicians and food personalities for one of the UK's largest touring food festivals.
